SCHOOL NAME:MALVERN COLLEGE HONG KONG

http://www.malverncollege.org.hk/

Malvern College Hong Kong (MCHK) draws upon the rich heritage and ethos from its parent school Malvern College UK, a co-educational day and boarding school founded in 1865 in the UK. Renowned for its innovative approach to education, the school was one of the first UK schools to adopt the IB Diploma programme. MCHK is a candidate school for the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme, the Middle Years Programme and Diploma Programme and is pursuing authorization as an IB World School.

Leveraging Malvern College UK’s 25+ years of experience in IB, MCHK offers a globally accepted and well-established curriculum, carrying Malvern’s inclusive, personalised philosophy of nurturing every child’s individual strengths and abilities, guided by talented, dedicated and qualified teachers. There is a strong emphasis on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, and all pupils learn Mandarin and simplified characters.

MCHK provides the ethos of a traditional British boarding school within a contemporary day school setting. This approach involves the provision of small class sizes, personal tutors, and strong pastoral care within a house system. MCHK ensures that each pupil maintains a keen academic focus and benefits from a rounded education which attaches significant importance to co-curricular activities such as art, drama, sports, music and service in the community and beyond. The school is also one of the first schools in the territory to run a Forest-Beach School programme by qualified Level 3 practitioners. Pupils build confidence, self-awareness and social skills, while learning about the natural world in the outdoors.

MCHK opened its doors in August 2018. It is located adjacent to the Hong Kong Science Park and will ultimately provide around 1200 places for Primary and Secondary pupils. Pupils will have the opportunity to study at The Downs Malvern from Year 7 or Malvern College UK from Year 9 (subject to fulfilling relevant entry requirements).
