The English Schools Foundation (ESF) is the largest provider of English-medium international education in Hong Kong. Our 22 schools and comprehensive programme of extra-curricular activities bring out the best in every student through a personalised approach to learning and by inspiring curious minds.

Our strategic intent is to be the key driver of best practice in teaching and learning. Our model of education is on the cutting-edge of global innovation producing excellent outcomes for our students.

There are more than 17,000 students from about 60 different nationalities in ESF schools, Private Independent Schools and kindergartens. About 70% of our students have parents who are permanent residents of Hong Kong.

Glenealy School

Glenealy School is an ESF primary school. Glenealy School is located in the Mid-Levels, catering for 360 children including provision for those who need additional support. The school’s mission is to empower learners to flourish and make a positive difference. Glenealy embraces the vibrant international community we serve and actively encourages involvement and promotes a sense of family. The school has been described as “a small school with a big heart!”

Using the IBO PYP programme to frame our curriculum, all children at Glenealy learn through an inquiry based approach, where they are encouraged to explore concepts and ideas by posing questions, investigating and researching, seeking answers and taking relevant action to bring meaning to their learning. The school has a focus on quality literacy and numeracy programmes and uses modern technology to enhance learning, engagement and challenge. We aim for happy, well-rounded and balanced students who have the skills and attitudes to become life long learners. We believe in developing independence and responsibility and offer children many opportunities to take leadership roles and positive action within the school and wider community.

Special arrangement for incoming families

It is possible for online applications to be submitted for admissions to ESF while families are overseas and before relocation to Hong Kong. The ESF introduced the Nomination Rights scheme in November 2012 to facilitate any family wishing to ‘fast track’ on a school’s wait list. Corporate Nominees gain first priority for admissions. Individual Nomination Rights Nominees will gain a priority behind siblings. All applicants are required to satisfy our entry requirements for admissions. Please refer to the ESF website for details: http://www.esf.edu.hk/esf-nomination-rights.
